About Donald

Donald's initial massage training was at Phoenix College in Phoenix, Arizona.  His training included Swedish massage techniques and philosophies and progressed to include deep tissue work with an emphasis on trigger point therapy, PNF stretching (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation), and myofacial release techniques. As an avid sports enthusiast, he began to focus his attention on helping other athletes using his massage skills and his intuitive abilities in healing touch therapy. Donald continued to pursue further studies in sports massage, aromatherapy, and reflexology.

After graduating from Phoenix College, Donald furthered his education in massage by becoming certified as a LaStone® therapist.  LaStone® Therapy™ uses hot and cold stones to produce a therapeutic effect on the body as well as provide one of the most intensely relaxing massage experiences available today.  Donald has been honored to have studied with Mary Nelson at her headquarters located in Tucson, Arizona.  Mary is the originator of this particular type of therapy that is the fastest growing massage technique in today's spas throughout this country and across international waters.

More recently, Donald has become certified as an Advanced Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy® (AOBT) therapist.  This form of bodywork uses gravity assisted techniques to provide one of the most luxurious forms of massage on the planet.  In AOBT, the therapist stands on the massage table using bars overhead for balance.  AOBT is an adaptation of an ancient form of barefoot massage using deep compression effleurage gliding over the body. Gravitational force is combined with centrifugal and centripetal movements to bring about a structural change in chronic soft tissue damage.

Every massage by Donald is individually tailored to meet the current need of the client and employs a combination of massage techniques and modalities. His massages can range from relaxing to deep and intense. No matter which massage you receive, you can take comfort in knowing that you're in caring and competent hands and you will leave refreshed and ready to face the world again.

Donald's love and passion for massage is equal to his devotion and practice of yoga. Donald believes that the practice of yoga is an ongoing transformation of mind, body, emotion, and spirit. He has been practicing yoga for over 6 years and continues to practice at Your Body Center (www.yourbodycenter.com) where he also serves as an instructor.

His love for yoga led to his certification in Traditional Thai massage, Southern Style. This style of massage was taken directly from the teachings of yoga. Thai massage is rhythmic and meditative, enabling both the client and the practitioner to reach a deeper level of consciousness. Thai massage includes therapeutic stretching, joint mobilization, rhythmic deep tissue compression, toning of energy lines, acupressure, assisted hatha yoga poses, mindfulness and loving-kindness meditation. Due to the unique form of stretching employed, Thai massage is sometimes called "lazy man's yoga." The practitioner is able to direct the intensity of the stretching and pressure points for a much deeper result than one practicing yoga on their own.
